Holding Me

Many thanks goes to my good friend Sheryl Paraiso who worked on this song with me!

Just the other day
I was sure I heard You say
That it’s time to hold tight
As I take your breath away
And I tried to imagine
Just what that could mean
Never guessed that my dreams
Would be wiped away clean

With my heart laying bare
Screaming weaknesses there
All I could do was fight
For my mind to be spared
And I tried to imagine
Just what it could mean
If my page was wiped clean
And I’d once again dream

Was it pride to believe
That You would choose to use me?
Was it wrong to stand tall
When I could take a fall?
But I can’t stay down long
For Your Spirit is strong
And Your Spirit is what’s holding me

I will still believe
That You choose to use me
That You stand me up tall
That You catch every fall
And I can’t stay down long
For Your Spirit is strong
And Your Spirit is what holds
(rpt ends... what’s holding me)

More of Him

I had it figured out
This thing called love
Practiced, polished, and perfected
I’d held it’s secrets in my grasp
Mastering the ups and downs
And waltzing on its waves
But human love has limits
Fragile motives, fractured states
And if left within my hands
Would surely break

I still look at you with love
Still wish that you could know and feel
You’re not alone, you’re not unknown,
But I know now that all I have
Is not enough for you
What you need
Is more of Him and less of me

I had it figured out
Your future planned
Free and faith-filled, moving forward
I’d passed life’s secrets from my grasp
Mastering its ups and downs
And waltzing on its waves
But all wisdom has limits
Fragile motives, fractured states
And if left within my hands
You’d surely break

I still look at you with love
Still wish that you could know and feel
You’re not alone, you’re not unknown,
But I know now that all I have
Is not enough for you
What you need
Is more of Him and less of me
