The Grand Masterpiece

I've found a new fear
Afraid of what's unclear
The things I've begun
Their purpose undone
Unraveled like wool
As it falls from the spool
Though initial intent
Felt so strong and the pull
So intense that I knew
I would see the task through
But the end's never reached
And instead I am beached
With my hand to the plough
But the ground still unturned
And I quickly reflect
On what must have been learnt
But the 'i's aren't dotted
The 't's aren't crossed
And the meaning I'd planned
Temporarily lost
So I look to the future
In hope that I'll find
A project attainable
Something explainable
A little less risk
Perhaps, can't decide
Is it pride?
Both to hold back
And shoot for the sky
Ok then let's go
Let's give it a shot
Why not?
For there's only One
Who's seen it all through
When He hung on the cross
Then emerged from the tomb
'It is finished', He said
What more can be done?
All the plans I've begun
Only make sense within
The tapestry He's spun
And my work is woven
Between all His threads
And their purpose remaining
Unclear till the end
Though my part's unfinished
Odd-shaped, misplaced
If I stand back
Squint my eyes, tilt my head
I can smile at the style
Of the piece that I've shared
And I know my Creator
Who's hands are untainted
Will lift its potential
And shift my perspective
Then finally release
The grand masterpiece

The Secret Place

When I meet you in the secret place
You will come and you’ll surprise me
All other voices couldn’t match the wonders
Of what’s spoken in the secret place

Your voice has calmed the raging waters
Raised the hope of sons and daughters
You’ve overcome the hold of death
Created life with just Your breath

So if You’ve just one word to say
Let me hear Your voice today
And I will never be the same
When I’ve been in the secret place

When I meet you in the secret place
You will speak and I will listen
All other voices couldn’t match the wonder
Of what’s spoken in the secret place

Your voice has calmed the raging waters
Raised the hope of sons and daughters
You’ve overcome the hold of death
Created life with just Your breath

So if You’ve just one word to say
Let me hear Your voice today
And I will never be the same
When I’ve been in the secret place

The secret place
No other voice could ever match
What’s spoken in the secret place

His Name is Jesus

There's a love that compels us
A drive that indwells us
To be more to this world
Than logic can tell us
And the One who was nailed here
In purity dwelt near
Immersed but untainted
By all that is grey here
The pull of the darkness
Though strong to the masses
Instead gave Him room
To bring beauty from ashes
His power transforms us
His love, it restores us
The answer to all?
Well, His name is Jesus

My God's Own Treasure

There's a love that compels us
A drive that indwells us
To be more to this world
Than our own flesh would tell us
For the One who was nailed here
Himself spent his life here
But never was tainted
By all that is grey here
His power over death, sin
And all that it's taunts bring
Was so great it reaches
Beyond those entrenched in
A power that transforms
The basest of life forms
To beauty beyond measure
My God's own treasure

We Will Go

Don't be afraid
Be still and see
The Lord of Salvation
Has planned victory
He will accomplish
What He has in store
The hurdles ahead
Shall be hurdles no more
He will fight for you
You just hold Your peace
No more time for tears
Let the be released

We will go
With the strength we've got
Not by might, nor by power
But the Spirit of God
We will go
We'll give all we've got
What was done on the cross
Will go on to light the world

Remade

Tonight I mourned for people I never knew
A deep pain inside, as though I were there too
But so far removed here,
Consumed with minute fear,
While real flesh and bone
Battle death, and worse, Alone
All solutions seem futile
No avenues worthwhile
But as I sit and weep
These burdens I won’t keep
Instead I will cling
To my God, my King
My Saviour who died for my sin
Watch in awe as I’m changed within
Introduce my world to Him
Pass on the peace, the transforming Grace
Know His Presence as the ultimate place
And believe the dark spaces
Filled with yearning faces
Will be consumed by Him
Light and life returned to win
Forgiveness over hatred
Clothed over naked
Beauty over ashes
Love over lashes
My world
Our world

What Could I Live For

What could I live my life for
What would it take
For my heart to break
And be free
For more of you
And less of me

What could I live my life for
What would it take
What change could I make
So I'll be free
To care for you
And not just me

What could I live my life for
What would it take
For souls to awake
And be free
To look around
And truly see
